Assertiveness

Happy to help? So are we, but if by that you mean:

  • Holding back from giving feedback.
  • Keeping your thoughts and opinions to yourself.
  • Taking on too much because you find it hard to say no.

Or, on the other hand:

  • Finding that your directness puts others off.
  • Offend others when you’re just being honest with them.

Assertiveness is an attitude, it’s a sense of being an equal. When we’re assertive we’re conscious of our own and respectful of others rights.
Aggression is saying it and not caring how it’s received on the other end.
Passiveness is not saying it at all for fear of upsetting others.
